We make deep, comfortable sofas that change when your life does. New covers, extra modules, a different cushion fill. We sell them to you directly, so you’re not paying for a big-box store, and our prices don’t jump around to fake a bargain.
How it started
Our parents made their first table in 1988, in a small workshop in Geelong. The business was called Colonial Pine, and for the next 30 years it made and supplied furniture for some of Australia’s biggest retailers.
In 2019 the second generation came in with an idea: stop selling through other people’s shops and sell to you directly. That side project became Banana Home.
We’re still family-run and still based in Geelong. Same values, different name on the door.

Who makes our sofas
We design every range ourselves, then build it with partner workshops we’ve worked with for 25 years. We know the people, we visit the floors, and we’ve spent a long time refining the same frames and cushions together.
Every sofa is cut, sewn and upholstered by hand. It’s slower than a production line, and it’s a big part of why the Cloud feels the way it does.

Built to change
Over 60% of our range can be upgraded, reconfigured or have parts replaced. You add to it instead of starting again.
How we price
We set a fair price and keep it there for most of the year. We don’t inflate a “was” price just to knock it off again.
We do run a couple of real sales, like Black Friday and end-of-run clearance when a range changes. When we do, the discount comes off the price you’d normally pay.
Selling direct is what makes that work. There’s no retailer in the middle, so more of what you pay goes into the sofa.
Come and sit on one
Buying a sofa online is a leap, so we opened showrooms in South Melbourne and Alexandria, Sydney. They’re small on purpose. Sit on the Cloud, feel the cushions, and go through more than 300 fabrics with someone who knows them.

Why ‘Banana Home’?
It comes from the idea of peeling back the layers of big retail and selling only what matters: a well-made sofa at a fair price.
It’s a slightly odd name, and if we had our time again we might pick something different. But people remember it, and it still means something to us.
Why isn’t everything in stock?
We keep our most popular sofas and colours in stock for quicker delivery. Everything else we make to order, in the fabric and layout you picked, instead of filling a warehouse with things that might never sell.

Where are you based?
Our office and warehouse are in North Geelong, where the business started. We deliver across Australia and New Zealand, and have showrooms in Melbourne and Sydney.
